Special education students participate in United We Work

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Special education students from seven school districts from around the area participated in United We Work, an annual event that provides sophomore, junior and senior students with job shadowing and job skill development opportunities.

Director of Marketing for Amerigroup Emie young said the event gives these students a sense of what individuals with disabilities can do. Mayor Dan Pope kicked off the event before students were assigned to different job sites.

"We want all of our citizens to have good jobs. There are a lot of good jobs available," Pope said, "and this is a great way to introduce these students to the workforce."

Students also engaged in mock job interviews conducted by Lubbock-area business representatives and worked on their resume building skills.
