Look Around Lubbock: Miss ABC Pro Rodeo

Posted: Updated:

The ABC Pro Rodeo selected Shanel Waggoner as Queen and Kye Tomlinson as Princess to promote the ABC Pro Rodeo, western heritage, and the sport of rodeo; and to be positive role models and examples to everyone they meet.

The girls completed an application process, horsemanship competition, interviews and a speech before being judged and selected. The horseman competition consists of a designated reining pattern, a queen's run and a flag lap. The style show/public speaking/coronation portion of the competition consists of a two minute memorized speech that includes information relevant to the AMBUCS club, ABC Pro Rodeo, and the sport of rodeo in general. Contestants could also be asked to answer an impromptu question about current events or rodeo. Miss ABC Pro Rodeo received a $1,500 scholarship, buckle and other prizes. Miss ABC Pro Rodeo Princess received a $500 scholarship, buckle, and other prizes.

The 77th Annual ABC Pro Rodeo is April 4-6.

For more information, The Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs meets every Friday at noon at Danny's Fins and Hens or call 806-777-1510.
