New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal rollover southeast of Carlsbad that killed a 14-year-old.

Sierra Corrales, of Carlsbad, was killed in a rollover on Howard Road near Gonzalez Road.

Investigators say another 14-year-old female was driving a 2003 Tahoe at a high rate of speed.  The Tahoe left the road and rolled. Corrales was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

There were eight people in the Tahoe, ages ranging from fourteen to seventeen.  Four of the occupants were uninjured, but three were transported to area hospitals with non life threatening injuries.

The Tahoe belonged to the 14-year-old driver's mother, and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but it appears seatbelts were not used.

The New Mexico State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit has been called in to assist in the investigation.
