LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock grand jury indicts a defendant who prosecutors said battered and choked his girlfriend at the time.

Jonathan Fowler, 22, true-billed for domestic assault by strangling. Court documents indicate Fowler was homeless back in October and was staying with the victim in a shed outside his mom's house.

They reportedly started fighting and investigators said Fowler punched the victim and choked her to the point she passed out.

When confronted by police Fowler denied the fight, but officers report seeing blood on his hands when they booked him.

He's held on a $5,000 bond.

Grand jurors also indict a defendant accused of hitting his girlfriend with his cast and choking her. Esteneslasio Flores, 26, indicted for domestic assault by strangling.

According to court documents Flores and his girlfriend got into an argument at a bar. When she went home, the victim locked herself in her bedroom. Flores reportedly broke down the door, grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the floor.

The victim claims he covered her nose and mouth and began hitting her in the head and face with the cast on his left forearm. Police report the marks on her face were not consistent with Flores' version of the story and that he kept changing it multiple times.
