Local students learn how to promote original music

LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press release)

Five local students, ages 15-17, have been working diligently to reach a goal of releasing their first original EP, and will celebrate that goal achievement this Sunday, September 23rd from 5-7 p.m. at 7607 Quincy Ave. The EP release party is open to the public and has free admission.

Carson Green - guitar, Tristan Nock - drums, Hannah Beadles - bass, Evan Long -guitar and Reb Hope – vocals, make up the new Pop-Punk band - Name Brand. They met through the performance programs at School of Rock Lubbock, and became friends who soon realized they wanted to make original music together. Four of the five students also attend Frenship High School and are involved with the band program at Frenship. Through their experiences with School of Rock Lubbock and Frenship Band, they are learning that it takes good communication, healthy conflict resolution skills, time management skills, listening skills, determination, patience and persistence to get an original band off the ground. The skills they are learning through this experience will benefit them throughout their lives.

After rehearsals and songwriting sessions, and several live performances, they chose four songs to put on their first EP, titled “Fleeting Paradise.” The students spent numerous hours over the 4th of July week in studio with the local company White Magic Studios and learned additional valuable lessons though the recording process as well.

The students understand the value in using local resources whenever possible, so they utilized local businesses and people for sign printing and artwork for the EP. Dalton Wallace at Graphics LBK finalized their logo and signs, and local art teacher, Joey MacLean, at FHS created the artwork for the EP.

Their EP, Fleeting Paradise, will be available over the next few days on most music platforms, including Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music and more.

They have a facebook and Instagram page with more details of their history and the road to their 1st EP release.
