LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Salvation Army sends more than a hundred kids to camp.

These kids generally come from low-income families and will be spending a week-long break at a summer camp south of Dallas. Mayor Dan Pope was present at the departure this morning.

"We got lots of activities there. The swimming pool is still the favorite part for the kids. They will go everyday. And they will be proud to represent Lubbock because they have everything their parents probably couldn't provide but they are having everything to have a fun week," Nathanael Doria, of the Lubbock Salvation Army, said.

The Salvation Army said they are thankful to the community for the donations.

The children will return from their break on Saturday afternoon.
