The Latest: Trump, Kim agree to work toward denuclearization

SINGAPORE (AP) - President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have signed a joint document in which they commit to working "toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

The document signed by the leaders at their historic summit Tuesday also says they will join efforts "to build a lasting and stable peace regime" on the Korean Peninsula.

The White House has yet to release the document's text. But it was photographed by the news media during a signing ceremony.

The document lays out four broad commitments. It says the sides "commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity."

And it says they will commit to recovering the remains of prisoners of war and those missing in action.

LPD forces Depot District bar to temporarily close

LUBBOCK, Texas - Kluzo's misses out on a busy weekend of business on LPD's order. The Depot District club's been the site of multiple reports to police over the past few months. There’s been 20 calls since the beginning of the year at Kluzo’s alone including fights, assaults, shots fired, and theft.

"We've had some shootings, we've had some fights, we've had a lot of issues like that public drunkenness," said Lubbock police chief Greg Stevens. "It's centered around just a couple of establishments and one of them has been Kluzos."

A drive-by outside the club forced the department’s hand. That code gives the chief and other officers the authority to close places in order to protect the peace. Stevens said it is not a long term fix, but he hopes to send a strong message to the business owner.

"We want the owner to reach out to the police department," said Stevens. "We want to develop a good relationship so that we can help them to have a better more safe environment both inside and outside the club."

Stevens said he is planning to meet with the Kluzo's owner this week to come up with a strategic plan to help them have a safe business for their employees,  patrons, and the businesses around them.

Lubbock Constable challenges law used to remove him from office following DWI

LUBBOCK COUNTY, Texas - Constable C.J. Peterson is fighting back while the Lubbock County Republican Party is trying to remove him from office after he was charged with a DWI. However, his attorney thinks the statute being used to remove him is unconstitutional.

Attorney Rob Hogan says the statute doesn't have the right priorities in order. He's filed for a temporary and permanent injunction.

"You have a statute that is not limited to things that concern an officer's on-duty performance or an elected official's on-duty performance. But you have a statute that has a wide reach, even for matters of an off-duty performance and that is a big concern," Hogan said.

Peterson's BAC was .152 at the time of his arrest in early May, almost two times the legal limit. According to Texas law, an elected official who is proven to be a habitual drunk can be removed from office.

The Chapter 87, Section 13 provision lets petitions be filed against officials. Hogan says that law shouldn't be applied to this case and thinks the law needs to be updated.

There's no trial date yet, and a judge will decide whether to suspend the enforcement of that statute temporarily
