Transfer student Matt Mooney commits to Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Adding a sharp-shooting guard is exactly what Chris Beard needs. Matt Mooney committing to Texas Tech.

Mooney is a transfer from South Dakota. He will play his final year donning the scarlet and black. Mooney, a first-team all-conference player in the summit league, chose the Red Raiders over Northwestern and Creighton.

Mooney averaged just under 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists last season. He scored 30 or more points six times, including 31 against TCU. Mooney spent his first two years in college at the Air Force Academy.
