May is Elder Abuse Prevention Month in Texas.  Please see attached news release which includes information on our Adult Protective Services (APS) “It’s Everyone’s Business” public awareness campaign.

This week in Lubbock and Amarillo, the following events are scheduled:

Amarillo Mayor’s Proclamation - May is Elder Abuse Awareness Month

Tuesday, May 15th, 5 p.m.

Where: Amarillo City Hall, (3rd floor) 7th Avenue and Buchanan, Amarillo, TX

Description: City officials will proclaim May is Elder Abuse Awareness Month

VA2K at the Veterans Administration

Wednesday, May 16th, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Where: 6104 Ave Q South Drive, Lubbock, Texas

Description: Adult Protective Services will be working with the VA to help formerly homeless veterans stock their new homes with basic needs items

Thursday, May 17th, 12 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Where: Monterey Church of Christ, 6111 82ND Street, Lubbock, Texas

Description: Seniors and faith-based leaders learn about preventing the abuse, neglect and exploitation of elderly and disabled adults

Billboards in Amarillo - APS “It’s Everyone’s Business” prevention campaign

May 1st – May 31st

Where: Arden Road between Bell and Coulter( English version) , East 10th and South Cleveland ( English version),   Amarillo Boulevard East and North Grand ( Spanish version)

Description: Billboards showcasing the APS “It’s Everyone’s Business” prevention campaign will be up at various Amarillo locations during the month of May thanks to generous sponsorship by the SAC Senior Ambassador Coalition (SAC), a group of almost 50 agencies that work daily with seniors
