Lamesa is a city of 9,400 with rich agricultural roots in cotton. Lamesa is centrally located between anchor cities Lubbock to the north Midland/Odessa to the south. Lamesa is recognized by the State of Texas as the birthplace of the chicken friend steak, an honor celebrated annually on the last weekend of April with the Chicken Fried Steak Festival. The Festival is a 3-day event and a large draw for tourists and locals.
