'March for Babies' raises money for preemies and moms

More than half a million babies are born prematurely each year across the country.

Doctors say West Texans are leading the fight in slowing it.

The "March for Babies" kicks off with an event today to help raise money for the March of Dimes.

The goal is to raise $275,000 to provide care for both mothers and pre-mature babies.

The march's mission has expanded from President Roosevelt's original goal of curing polio in the '30's

For more information about the event, visit the Lubbock March For Babies page.
