'Keep Lubbock Beautiful' unveils new litter prevention program

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The City of Lubbock Keep Lubbock Beautiful organization is unveiling a new litter prevention program called 10 on Tuesday.

This new program encourages individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and schools to pledge to remove ten pieces of trash every Tuesday with the goal of preventing and ending litter around our city. 

"We hope that the result will be that our natural resources are protected that the quality of life is improved, a litter free city is good for the community moral and it helps our economic development efforts," Mayor Dan Pope said.

"So we want to make sure people don't forget no matter where you work, live or play have great care in what we are doing when living here in Lubbock," Keep Lubbock Beautiful Liason Raquel Mullen said.

Litter is a leading preventable environmental problem, and we have the power to stop it. The 10 on Tuesday program calls on individuals and groups to remove 10 pieces of litter every Tuesday.

“We hope this new program motivates people of all ages to do the right thing to prevent and end litter. We will work with individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and school partners to bring the 10 on Tuesday litter prevention program to people across our community. We will provide businesses, civic groups, and schools resources to help them maintain the cleanliness of their communities, recycle certain litter, and further reduce the volume of trash entering our landfill and waterways,” Keep Lubbock Beautiful Staff Liaison Raquel Mullen said.
