LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech Health Sciences Center is recognizing it's donors at a Celebration of Generosity Appreciation Dinner. The Lubbock County Club will host the event Thursday, March 8 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Program speakers will include TTUHSC President Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.; Josue Enriquez, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences student, will speak on importance of scholarships; and Hi and Byron Newby whose family gave to honor their mother who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and recently passed. The Newby family’s generous gift will support Alzheimer’s research, the Garrison Institute on Aging Brain Bank and caregiver education.

In 2017- 2018, TTUHSC awarded more than $11.2 million in scholarships and grants to students.

The Campaign for Your Life, Our Purpose has raised more than $75.6 million in the past three and a half years. The goal is to raise $100 million by 2019 to continue TTUHSC's impact in health care by funding research, education and scholarships as well as patient care and community outreach.

TTUHSC receives only 21 percent of its budget from state funding, which makes donor support critical in carrying out the university’s mission.
