LUBBOCK, Texas -

“The Other Mozart,” a play nominated in 2015 for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Sound Design and an Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Solo Performance, is being performed as part of the 2017-18 Presidential Lecture & Performance Series. The Texas Tech Allen Theatre in the Student Union building will host the event March 23 at 7:00 pm

Written by Sylvia Milo, “The Other Mozart” is the true, untold story of Nannerl Mozart, the sister of Amadeus, who was a prodigy, keyboard virtuoso and composer herself. She performed throughout Europe with her brother to equal acclaim, but her work and her story faded away.

Described by the New York Times as “strikingly beautiful,” “The Other Mozart” is a one-woman drama set in and on an 18-foot dress created to fill and spill over the entire stage and is based on the Mozart family’s humorous and heartbreaking letters.

“The Other Mozart” was developed at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City and has made its way around the world, being performed in places like Austria, Munich, Toronto and London.

Tickets for the performance are $18 and are available through Select-A-Seat at (806) 770-2000 or www.selectaseatlubbock.com. Texas Tech students are eligible to receive one free ticket with a valid student ID at the Student Union Building info desk. There will be a CD signing following the performance.
