Clovis woman sentenced for obstructing a child abuse investigation

A Clovis woman found guilty of obstructing a child abuse investigation will spend 30 days in jail.

Claudia Reza, 35, and four of her children were in a rollover crash in October 2016 when her ex-boyfriend reportedly rammed their vehicle. Prosecutors say Reza refused to allow her kids to speak with law enforcement officers who were investigating the child abuse case.

During sentencing, the judge said, “This man tried to kill you, he tried to kill your children. You need to let that sink in.”

The judge also noted the seriousness of the crimes her ex-boyfriend committed and the difficulty in prosecuting that case due to Reza’s obstruction.
