Lubbock first responders honored as 'Unsung Heroes'

Posted: Updated:

Lubbock's first responders were honored Thursday for their sacrifices in the line of duty and their efforts to make the Hub City a safer community.

A paramedic, firefighter, policeman, sheriff deputy, and DPS Trooper were recognized as "Unsung Heroes" by the Metropolitan Lubbock Rotary Club and Prosperity Bank.

The honorees were selected by their peers.

• The crew of Lubbock Fire Rescue's "Truck 1," for rescuing a fire victim before an engine with water and hoses arrived on scene;
• Kim Pelletier, a UMC paramedic, for her contributions throughout her career;
• State trooper Alexandra Morales, for her role in finding and arresting a suspected child pornographer;
• Lubbock County deputy Ken Mull;
• an undercover Lubbock police officer, for leading the traffic enforcement division.

"It's something to be said that the coworkers took the time to nominate each one of these recipients tonight for this award," Assistant Police Chief Neal Barron said. "I think it says something for their character and their work ethic."

Honoring Lubbock first responders stems from 9/11.
