Rawls College of Business honors distinguished alumni

Tech's Rawls College of Business honors a few of its distinguished alumni for their contributions to the school.

The four honorees, Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope, Michael Hitt, an educator and researcher whose career has spanned more than 40 years, R Duane Ireland, who has published numerous academic reviews and is the executive associate dean at the Mays Business School at Texas A&M, and Matthew Malouf, the owner of Malouf Interests, a real estate development company.

"It's pretty humbling because all of us remember our college days and remember we weren't very distinguished students so at some point in life I guess they thought we made the leap," Malouf said.

He said the university that's allowed him to thrive is a great asset for West Texas and if it weren't for Tech, many students wouldn't be able to get a college education.
