LUBBOCK, Texas -

Texas Tech is at the center of the college basketball universe hosting Kansas on Saturday February 24th. The Jay-hawks and Red Raiders are the top two teams in the Big 12 and a lot of eyes are watching around the country. ESPN's College Gameday crew will carry the game and Red Raiders from all over are pouring into the city for what is hoped to be a preview of March Madness.

"Of course its huge," said Eddie McBride, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce president. "I mean it just something that's really good for us to reflect both the success of the team and how happy Lubbock is to have this opportunity to welcome Gameday to town as well."

This event is expected to bring big bucks to the Lubbock economy.

"Just ESPN's Gameday they bring about 120 to 140 rooms just in their entourage," said Rob Meyer, president of Lubbock's Hotel-Motel Association. "So this is just an added bonus to get this game hyped up to have Gameday here and that is a win for everybody."

The last time College Gameday was in Lubbock was in 2008. McBride said having it here this year not only shines a light on Texas Tech athletics but on the city as well.
