Texas Tech Women’s Tennis Hosts Arizona and NC State

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 8 Texas Tech Women’s Tennis team welcomes Arizona and NC State to McLeod Tennis Center this weekend.

The Lady Raiders (5-2) open the weekend with Arizona (7-2) on Friday at 2 p.m. Texas Tech returns to the courts on Sunday for a noon match against No. 37 NC State (4-5).

Arizona and NC State will play each other on Saturday at noon.

The Lady Raiders enjoyed the weekend off after a 1-2 showing at the ITA Indoor Nationals. Tech picked up a 4-2 win over No. 13 UCLA to advance to the quarterfinals for the second straight year. The Lady Raiders dropped back-to-back matches to No. 4 North Carolina, 1-4, and No. 5 Georgia, 1-4.

Arizona enters the match after a 4-3 win over Wisconsin last weekend. The Lady Raiders trail 3-4 in the all-time series. The two previously met on Feb. 14, 2014 in Lubbock when the Lady Raiders defeated the Wildcats, 6-1.

NC State enters the match after falling to No. 4 Duke in the ACC opener.  This match will mark the first meeting between Texas Tech and NC State in program history.


The Lady Raiders travel to Houston, Texas, to face No. 39 Rice on March 3. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
