Bomb squad clears Levelland school after threat

Posted: Updated:

Law enforcement responds to another reported bomb threat at Levelland Middle School.

As was the case with yesterday's threat, a resource officer was alerted to a note found in the bathroom.

Students, faculty and staff were evacuated to the nearby Levelland ABC School while the Lubbock bomb squad and K-9 unit investigated.
Hours later, emergency responders wrapped up the scene, giving the "all clear."

"Based on what we've seen around the country, you have to take any kind of threat in a serious manner," Levelland City Manager Erik Rejino said. "It's much better to be safe than sorry. It's unfortunate that it's happening. It disrupts the day and takes a tremendous amount of resources. It's one of those things that has just become to common in our society."

The bomb squad reports gathering evidence in the building before allowing students and staff to resume the school day.
