Facebook post promising cash for car wrapping could be a scam

Posted: Updated:

A scam has surfaced claiming money for advertisement.

The Facebook post claims to pay people $500 a week for wrapping their cars with ads.

Lubbock resident Francisco Galicia said he knew something was off when he got a phone alert claiming a check he received was fraud.

"They said 'Sir, what's the date on that check?' I said it is the 11th...they said, 'sir, is that check for $2,000?' I said yes it is, they said yes, you are the seventh person that has called. Somebody is using our logo on these checks," he said.

Galicia said his bank told him the account that sent the check has been closed for some time. The sheriff's office said they're looking into the issue and urges users to avoid similar posts.
