UMC Children's Hospital unveils $1.4 renovation project

Posted: Updated:

UMC Children's Hospital unveiled a new $1.4 million renovation project funded by the Children's Miracle Network Fund and other community donors.

These new renovations include an upgrade of 25 patient rooms on the pediatric floor, 15 in the pediatric ICU, an expanded pediatric tub room, new furniture in both patient rooms and the main lobby, and three handicap accessible bathrooms. UMC representatives say that these new renovations will help enhance the care delivery they are able to provide.

"Children do require special needs from adult patients and the environment is one of the most important aspects for the care of children," Dr. Tiva Kasemsri said. "And we often feel that the environment will produce a very positive outcome and the environment has to be child-friendly and has to be safe."

Dr. Kasemsri says the idea behind these new renovations is to meet the needs of both the patients and their families and at the same time creating a comfortable space.
