posted Friday, Jan. 5 - A Muleshoe man suspected of stabbing a woman and taking off with her 3-year-old and her body in the back of his truck is in custody Friday after a multi-county pursuit.

Bailey County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call just after midnight from the 44-year-old victim's sister who reported Lucio Gollo Camacho, 47, stabbed the woman at her home outside Muleshoe and left with her son.

About two hours later, an officer at the Dalby Correctional Facility in Post reported a Hispanic male, later identified as the suspect, had assaulted him and tried to take his weapon.

Garza County deputies located the suspect's vehicle headed west on US 84 and tried to pull him over. Lubbock County deputies joined in the effort to stop the vehicle.

He didn't stop until he ran out of gas in Lubbock near US 84 and Loop 289. The body of the victim was discovered in the back as deputies approached the truck.

The 3-year-old child was not injured. He was released to Child Protective Services and is now with his biological father.

Camacho was arrested and charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and endangering a child.

Additional charges are anticipated, including capital murder and aggravated kidnapping.
