LUBBOCK, Texas -

Lubbock police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting in South Plains Mall on New Year's Eve.

Detrick Montgomery, 30, was arrested Monday on two felony warrants, including aggravated assault and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police said an altercation at the mall began inside Footaction spilled out into the mall, at which point Montgomery pulled out a gun and fired the weapon.

The incident reportedly stemmed from a domestic disturbance that began in 2015. Montgomery was taken into custody after police surveillance in the 9400 block of Boston Avenue.

Officers also arrested 25-year-old Victoria York on charges of hindering apprehension.

There are no known injuries from a shooting at the South Plains Mall just before it closed Sunday evening, according to Lubbock Police.

Kieantae Czarnek says he was shopping at Footaction when he saw men and women walk in.

"I guess they had started an argument earlier in the store," Czarnek said. "The manager said 'nah, y'all not about to do this here again.' He was like 'y'all are going to have to take that outside'." That's when Czarnek said the fight led into the mall. "Females were getting dropped, males were getting dropped, and they went outside."

A video on twitter appears to show the moment this happened, leading up to a shot being fired. Warning - there is foul language in the tweet and in the video here.

Billy Stacy was shopping in a nearby store. "He opened up fire right over the kids' playground in the mall," Stacy said.

"He was going towards, around us, and I was looking at him and I was trying to keep a distance between us around the playground."

No one has been taken into custody. According to LPD, this appears to be an isolated incident. Officers will increase patrol at the mall next few days and as long as needed.
