Former Panhandle lawmaker says he was abused at Cal Farley's

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A former Texas Panhandle state senator and U.S. congressman says he was one of the numerous victims of abuse at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch near Amarillo.

Bill Sarpalius reports older boys abused him during his time at the ranch in the 60s. Generations of former residents claim staffers did the same over a span of 40 years.

Sarpalius says he believes the abuse is a result of judges sending violent teens to be housed along-side low-income orphans.

The Child Friendly Faith Project, a non-profit agency, reports Cal Farley CEO Dan Adams acknowledges those survivors are telling the truth. And he apologizes for it.

It's important to note Cal Farley's Boys Ranch has no affiliation with the Texas Boys Ranch in Lubbock.
