Andrew's Mission spreads joy at Covenant Children's Hospital

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Volunteers with Andrew's Mission helped spread cheer, with help from Fire Claus. That's St. Nick dressed as a firefighter. They passed out toys to patients at Covenant Children's Hospital.

Sasha Downing is the founder of the agency. She started this Christmas tradition after she saw the joy her late son Andrew got from getting a toy while in the hospital.

She says by spreading that same joy she keeps the memory of Andrew alive.

"A lot of these kids do spend Christmas in the hospital so we're just here to give back, put a smile on their face," Downing said. "There's sometimes even siblings that are here that have to stay here because their parents have to stay here with their brother or sister so we'll give a toy to a sibling as well."

Andrew's Mission is taking donations for Christmas 2018. Click here to learn more on the group's facebook page.
