The suspect accused of killing a man in his ex-girlfriend's home last month has been indicted on a murder charge.

Casey Owens, 38, charged with the murder of 38-year-old Landon Terry, moved out of the home in southwest Lubbock in November. The woman told police she ended the relationship because of Owen's addiction to crystal meth, according to the arrest warrant released Wednesday. She told police she dropped him off at a drug rehabilitation facility in Scurry on Thanksgiving.

The woman told police Owens had been back in town a few days and had been following her and making threatening phone calls, the warrant states.

Friday morning she told police she heard a noise in the house and found Owens hiding in a front bedroom.

"She tried to call for help but Casey took her cell phone and he pulled out a black pistol from his backside waistband," the warrant states.

The woman told police Owens pointed the gun at her and threatened to shoot her and that he knew Terry was coming over, according to the warrant.

She told police she tried to stop Owens from answering the door, but he hit her in the head with the gun and pushed her into a bedroom, where she called 911 from a landline.

Lubbock police initially responded to the 6000 block of 88th Street for a 911 hangup. On the way to the house, they received a radio update that shots had been fired. .

When officers arrived, the suspect was gone and Terry was laying on the living room floor with multiple gunshot wounds. They immediately started first aid and applied tourniquets until EMS arrived.

Terry told first responders he couldn't breathe before losing consciousness. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The woman told police she and Terry had known each other for two weeks prior to the shooting. She said Owens had been sending Terry threatening texts saying he knew they were dating.

Terry offered to bring the woman coffee the previous night when the pair had dinner together.

Owens turned himself in to police Saturday. He faces a murder charge and is being held on $500,000 bond.
