Lubbock Police Chief Greg Stevens promotes two officers and awards five others.

Detective Kraig van Hoose is now a sergeant.

Officer Jeremy Jones moves up to detective. For him, it's a move back to a familiar beat.

Det. Jones worked Crimes Against Children and homicide for six years before going to the patrol unit. He says it's a whole new landscape these days.

"When I was there the first time, the internet -- while the internet was in existence, it wasn't as focused on by law enforcement as far as enforcing crimes against children on the internet, so that's a new addition to what I'll be doing, I think," he said.

Jones says it's satisfying work and he's thankful for the chance to get back to it.
