LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's basketball team secured a No. 24 ranking in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Monday.
The Red Raiders (7-1) have tucked away a Big 12-leading two nonconference Top 25 victories this season versus then No. 20 Northwestern on Nov. 19 and then No. 22 Nevada on Dec. 5. The only other time that the Red Raiders have collected two Top 25 wins during nonconference action was during the 1996-97 season under James Dickey.
Texas Tech checked in at No. 22 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls two weeks earlier on Nov. 27. The last time the Red Raiders were ranked multiple times during the same season in the AP poll was during a five-week span from Dec. 7 to Jan. 4 in 2009-10.
Texas Tech returns to action from its eight-day break for final exams versus Kennesaw State from the Atlantic Sun Conference as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Raiders on Wednesday. Tip time is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by FOX Sports Southwest Plus in addition to the FOX Sports Go App.
