Deputies increasing patrols to curb rural property crimes this month

Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies are vamping up holiday security with their annual Operation St. Nick.

It's meant to curb the increase in property crimes seen during the holiday season.

The targets are home and auto burglars who strike in the county.

LSO will be running increased patrols and undercover operations in rural areas.

Keep an eye out for strangers lurking around your neighborhood and report anyone who looks suspicious.

"There are those individuals that are out there, what we call the scrooges," LSO Spokesperson Patricia Holbert said. "Make sure your blinds are closed, doors are locked, and everyone keep a lookout."

Operation St. Nick runs through the month of December. If you witness anything suspicious or out of place call 911 or the sheriff's office.
