The sky cleared from north to south across our area, with sun returning earlier today. Downstate it's a different story. There's been a lot of rain since last night around San Antonio. As the colder air has pushed south there's been some snow across parts of the Big Country and parts of North Texas.

Farther south there's been some snow across parts of South Texas. Just one report is 1.5" of snow northeast of Cotulla, according to NWS Corpus Christi. A winter weather advisory is in place for parts of that region (grey below) for light snow amounts. A winter storm warning (in pink) is where a few inches may fall tonight through Friday morning.

As this disturbance moves east some wintry weather is possible for parts of the Gulf Coast and South, with a winter weather advisory in place in grey below. Snow amounts should be pretty light, but any snow is impressive this far south.

Unfortunately, out west a big upper ridge will hold. This is what's helping guide cold air down across the eastern half of the nation, big trough east. But that ridge means it'll stay dry and warm over the West Coast, with terrible fire weather conditions around Los Angeles.

upper-level forecast map

TONIGHT: Some more clouds will roll in here by morning, low near 25.

low temp forecast

NEXT FEW DAYS: Mostly sunny Friday, high 55. The wind will be gusty out of the NW-N 12-22mph.

high temp forecast

It gets warmer this weekend...low 60s Saturday, mid 60s Sunday.

Average low this time of year is in the upper 20s, average high around 55. We'll continue with the high above the average through the first half of next week. Wednesday will probably be warmest, making a run at 70. Longer-range models show a front making it a little cooler by either Thursday or Friday.

At this point there isn't a good sign of rain or snow any time soon.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Whitney will have the next update posted here early in the morning.
