Lubbock ranks 5th best city for college grads

LUBBOCK, Texas -

College grads are in search for their dream jobs and their ideal cities to live in after receiving degrees. Fortunately, for red raiders a new study conducted by The city of Lubbock was ranked 5th best midsize city for new grads. The online website ranked 204 of the nation's cities with a population from 150,000 to 750,000, each city was ranked on a variety of factors those include: Median monthly rents, percentage of population between the ages of 20 and 34, bachelor degree holders, arts and entertainment venues among many others. 

"We ranked very high on those," said Lubbock Mayor, Dan Pope."In fact I think we are going keep going up." 

Mayor Pope said the city is continuing to take on new initiatives to make Lubbock more of an attractive community enticing recent grads to stay or come to Lubbock. 

"Student's come from the larger metropolitan areas about 43% of our student's come from DFW, 18 or 19 from the Houston area," said Texas Tech University President, Lawrence Schovanec. "They find out what a quality of life they can have in Lubbock."

This is the second year in a row Lubbock's ranked on this list and some red raiders said they see Lubbock's potential. 

"I do have some future plans, but plans can change and there is a good possibility that I might just love it here and want to stay here." 

The top ranking midsize city for recommended for recent college grads was Fayetteville, Arkansas.
