Frullo challenger says West Texans need someone with a backbone

A third Democrat announces he'll run for the District 84 state representative seat.

Attorney Austin Carrizales says youth knowledge shouldn't just be "fresh out of school," but someone who's been around enough to get their hands on the ropes.

"The one thing that we are lacking, are people that have backbone," he said. "When I think of people from West Texas, I think of people that stand up and fight. I think of people that are going to hold their ground. I don't think of people who are going to hold their ground, people that are going to find a party line and vote exactly what your party tells you to do."

He'll be running against Samantha Carrillo Fields and Zachary Reames Zepeda.

The incumbent is Republican State Representative John Frullo.

The primaries are in March. The General Election is in November.
