"Logan Lucky" new on DVD, Blu-ray, download

It's pretty slim pickings this week for new movies to watch at home but, fortunately, there is one worth seeing that many missed in theaters.

In "Logan Lucky," Channing Tatum and Adam Driver star as brothers in North Carolina with a criminal history trying to go straight. But when they run into financial problems, they hatch a plan to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway during a NASCAR race. They put together a motley crew including Daniel Craig as explosives expert "Joe Bang" - no, really - who is such a surprising and hilarious departure from Craig's Bond persona that it probably deserves an Oscar nomination.

If the movie sounds like "Redneck Ocean's Eleven," it's partly because it is directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also headed the "Ocean" series. But "Logan Lucky" is better than the last two "Ocean" movies. It treats the southern characters with care and affection rather than simply mocking them, and the comedy caper is charming all the way through.
