Girls Tipoff: 6:00 p.m. 100.7 The Score

Lubbock-Cooper Lady Pirates (5-1)

Amarillo Caprock Lady Longhorns (4-2)

Lady Pirates: The Lady Pirate basketball team returns home after a successful trip to Canyon over the weekend where they won 2 games in the shootout over very impressive basketball teams. Lubbock-Cooper beat the 5th ranked team in 5A girls’ basketball Frisco Liberty 46-35 and then Crowley 63-37, who posted a 25-6 record a year ago. LCP has won 5 games in a row after dropping the first game of the season on the road to Idalou in overtime. Senior Jacey Hise leads the team in scoring averaging 14 points per game as the Lady Pirate offense has been balanced with 8 girls averaging at least 6 points per game. Defense continues to be the biggest emphasis for Lubbock-Cooper this season; during the current 5 game win streak no opposing team has scored more than 40 points on the Lady Pirates. Looking ahead, LCP will travel to Midland Greenwood on November 28th.  The next radio broadcast will be on December 12th vs Frenship on 100.7 The Score.

Lady Longhorns: Caprock comes into to the contest winners in 4 of the first 6 games with wins over Borger, Midland, and Odessa High twice. In tournament play the Lady Horns dropped games to Abilene High and Denison. Amarillo Caprock should be able to compete for a playoff spot in a very competitive district 3-5A with teams like Canyon High, who won the State Championship last season, Amarillo High, and Canyon Randall which knocked Lubbock-Cooper out of the playoffs in the first round back in February. This could be one of the best Caprock teams they have had in a while. Lubbock-Cooper beat Caprock last season in Amarillo by the score of 50-43.
