Look Around Lubbock: Take in the Local Color! Lubbock's Artist Studio Tour

TAKE IN THE LOCAL COLOR! LUBBOCK’S ARTIST STUDIO TOUR Forty-two artists and eight studios will be participating in the 21st Take In the Local Color! Lubbock’s Artist Studio Tour, November 11-12, 2017. This yearly event gives audiences the unique opportunity to observe artists in their working environments, many of which are in private homes. All participating artists are from Lubbock County and all of the studios are located in Lubbock, Texas. The Studio Tour hours are 10AM-6PM on Saturday, November 11th and Noon – 6PM on Sunday, November 12th .

There will be approximately five artists showcased at each studio location. Artists will be displaying original work in the media of painting, drawing, pottery, fiber, jewelry, glass, wood, photography and sculpture. Demonstrations and performances by local musicians at some studio locations will add to the ambiance and festivity of the event. The Local Color Studio Tour is free and open to the public who are invited to travel on their own from studio to studio to see the artwork.

The eight host studios for the 2017 Local Color Studio Tour are:

Carol C. Howell Studio, 3224 22nd Street
Robert Rogers Studio, 3308 20th Street
Studio A at Corner Cottage, 2101 29th Street
Ami Hill Home, 3201 25th Street
Janet & Gary Schwantz Home, 3015 21st Street

The Carol C. Howell Studio is returning after an absence last year. New locations that have never participated in the event before include Robert Rogers Studio, Studio A at Corner Cottage, and Ami Hill Home. The remaining four spaces took part in the 2016 event. Our Mission: Fostering the creation, understanding, and enjoyment of the arts.

New artists participating in the 2017 Local Color Studio Tour are: Jackie DeVore, Shelley Hall Nelson, Carol C. Howell, Robert Rogers, Angelyn Nicholson, Jason Crites, Joyce Runyan, Janis Hubble, Kim Todd, Lane Anderson, Mitchell Wachtel, Brenda Watts and Steve Snell. All other artists participated in the 2016 event.
