LEDA presents $50,000 grant to Lubbock-Cooper program

The Lubbock Economic Development Alliance presents nearly $50,000 in grants to benefit the Career and Technical Education Program at Lubbock Cooper ISD.

The money will go towards welding units used in the classes.

LEDA CEO John Osborne says it's all part of providing a trained and ready workforce to entice more businesses and jobs to come to Lubbock.

FFA members say the new tools will help them continue on in their own education past high school.

"These machines we're getting this year, I'm really excited to use because this is obviously new to us, and I think it's a great opportunity for people to have updated machines like this -- for us to have updated machines like this -- to help us learn what people want us to do in the future.

This is the second grant of its kind LEDA has given to Lubbock Cooper and the third in general.
