Man charged with DWI after crash with LPD vehicle

Police have arrested a man suspected of driving under the influence and crashing into an officer's vehicle.

LPD reports Joshua Samarripas, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with an invalid license, and two other warrants. 

The crash happened at the intersection of 82nd and I-27 Thursday.

Police say when Samarripas was turning onto 82nd Street from the access road, he hit the officer's Tahoe that was stopped at the red light. 

Samarripas was taken to the hospital to be cleared for injuries, then taken into custody. 

The officer had minor injuries, but wasn't taken to the hospital.
