Suspect indicted on murder charge in connection to Levelland man's death

A man arrested in connection to the death of a Levelland man has been indicted by the Lubbock Grand Jury. 

Oscar Diaz Cerna, 23, is charged with the murder of Jacob Wayne Duffee, 30, who went missing in September 2017. Duffee's body was found in east Lubbock Nov. 1.  

LPD investigators received a tip that a man’s body was found near E. 44th Street and Magnolia. 

According to court documents, Duffee was last seen with Oscar Diaz Cerna, his employee, Sept. 29. 

Cerna's father, Oscar Pena Cerna, 41, has been charged with tampering with evidence related to the case.

According to the police report, Oscar Pena Cerna told a woman, who then contacted police, his son had shot his boss in the face and he helped dispose of the body and the gun. 

Oscar Diaz Cerna remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on more than $250,000 bond.
