The body found in east Lubbock Tuesday was a man last seen in September, Lubbock Police confirmed Wednesday. Charges have been filed in the death of Jacob Wayne Duffee, 30, of Levelland.

Oscar Diaz Cerna, 23, is charged with murder of the unidentified victim. Cerna's father, Oscar Pena Cerna, 41, has been charged with tampering with evidence related to the case. Levelland Police and the Lubbock County Medical Examiner's Office also provided details on the investigation Wednesday afternoon.

LPD investigators received a tip that a man’s body was possibly in near 5200 Magnolia.

According to court documents, Duffee was last seen with Oscar Diaz Cerna, his employee, Sept. 29.

Oscar Pena Cerna told a woman, who then contacted police, his son had shot his boss in the face and he helped dispose of the body and the gun, according to a police report.

Police on Tuesday were investigating a 'deceased person' found near E. 44th Street and Magnolia.

Oscar Pena Cerna told police he helped his son "get rid of" the body near 50th and Magnolia, the documents reveal.
