The site wants to reward students making an effort to use math in their everyday lives, reports www.calcunation.com.
Hutchinson, KS – October 12, 2017 /MarketersMedia/ —
CalcuNation.com recently announced the introduction of their academic scholarship. In an effort to help students make practical connections between the math they learn in the classroom and their experiences in the real world, the CalcuNation team is rewarding one student who can articulate how they have used one of the site’s calculators in a real-life situation with a $1,000 scholarship to help cover their schooling expenses.
“The CalcuNation team loves math and is dedicated to the advancement of mathematics through the provision of robust calculation tools like those found on our site. We sincerely believe that math isn’t just limited to books and classrooms – it is always at work every day in every area of our lives. It is with this idea in mind that we’re launching this new CalcuNation.com Scholarship Program. We want to do what we can to make sure students have the resources they need to continue exploring the important connections between their work in the classroom and their lives in the real world,” said Jon Richardson of CalcuNation.com.
The CalcuNation.com Math Scholarship is open to high school and college students who will be officially enrolled in an educational institution as of April 2018. The scholarship application requires students to write and post a 500-word blog essay detailing how they use math in their daily lives. Each post must include a link to a CalcuNation.com calculator and a clear explanation of how this tool has assisted them in their everyday application of mathematical concepts.
The submission deadline for the CalcuNation Scholarship is April 30th, 2018. Winners will be chosen based on coherent grammar, how well they relate their chosen math calculator to usage in real life, and the complexity of the connections they make.
Richardson went on to say, “Math is all around us and can be used in so many real-world scenarios. We can’t wait to read this year’s submissions and see how high school and college students are creatively using mathematical concepts to make their surroundings come alive and advance their knowledge of how the world works.”
