Warm next few days, cold front this weekend

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

TODAY: It's another sunny afternoon, just a few high clouds passing across the region. It's reached the 70s with a steady SW wind.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear, not as cold as the past few nights. Low in Lubbock near 54, wind S/SW 5-12mph.

NEXT FEW DAYS: A SW wind around 10-15mph will help to warm it back in the 80s. High near 82 Thursday, 85 Friday. The average high this time of year is 77 now, dropping to 75 middle of next week.

There's a low chance for some rain late Friday night into Saturday, possibly lingering into early Sunday. It doesn't look like much of a chance at this point. If it does rain it shouldn't last long. There could also be a few isolated thunderstorms.

A cold front will move across the area early Sunday. It'll kick the north wind up and bring in cooler air. Sunday's high will likely be in the upper 60s. It doesn't look like this front will be as strong as the one that moved through here earlier this week.

NEXT WEEK: Cool mornings in the 40s, afternoons with lots of sun. It'll warm back into the 70s by Tuesday.

7-day forecast?

Have a good rest of your day. Whitney will have the next forecast update early tomorrow morning.
