Noble Initiatives promotes empathy and understanding of fetal alcohol disorders

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders may account for a majority of the intellectual disabilities in the world.

FASD's are caused by pregnant mothers drinking alcohol. It leaves scars on the baby's brain that will last the rest of their lives.

To help parents and caregivers understand it, Noble Initiatives offers a workshop in addition to its online courses.

"With training and education comes understanding and empathy," said Jeff Noble, Noble Initiatives CEO. "We're able to look at this population in a different light. They're not trying to be rude or nasty or mean people, they have brain damage, you just can't see it."

Covenant Health parents and volunteers foot the cost for the seminar.
