Lubbock Community Theatre opens "Addams Family Musical"

Lubbock Community Theatre starts a new season with "The Addams Family Musical" being performed at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts. The Broadway musical is based on the TV series from the 60s and focuses on daughter Wednesday falling in love with young man from a respectable family.

Cast member Kayla Rushing, who plays Wednesday, says the production features a cast as diverse as the characters.

"Everyone incorporates their own little quirks and talents into the show, so I think that's what makes it special," Rushing said.

Musical Director Ian Klotzman said there's a wide range of talent, too.

"We have such a diverse cast full of people who are professional musicians to local talent, we have people who have been singing for 30 years, we have people where this is their first experience singing and working with a musical director," Klotzman said.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
