LUBBOCK, Texas -

Sharp Academy hosted an event to bring awareness to the different challenges of dyslexia.

One in five children struggle with the condition. There are two common forms, one regarding numbers, also known as "dys-calcula", and the other dealing with reading.

"The response is mostly parents and the community coming in, finding out for the first time that 'I really didn't know that'," said Raymond Cortez, a Sharp Academy teacher. "One of the people that we talk about is McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy or Mister Wonderful from Shark Tank that are dyslexic, and teach that kids can be very successful."

Sharp Academy welcomed those who struggle with dyslexia and encouraged them to reach out for assistance.
