South Plains Auto Theft Task Force works to locate missing vehicles

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The South Plains Auto Theft Task Force asking for help in locating three missing vehicles stolen from the 10,000 -1800 block of county road 6900. 

A 2001 Canary Yellow Chevy Corvette with chrome wheels, a red 2001 Ford F150 and a yellow 2004 Chevy SSR with red and orange flames on the hood and front doors.

Mandy Myers, analyst with the SPATF said car thefts have been on the rise with an average of 125 thefts per month in Lubbock County. 

"Stop leaving your cars unlocked, lock your doors, take all your belongings inside, don't leave your keys or your proximity keys inside the vehicle," Myers said. "Please take everything inside your house and lock your door."

Myers said they have about an 85 percent recovery rate for stolen vehicles.
