Hidden caffeine and the dangers

Posted:

Doctors say it's easy to overdose on caffeine which could cause serious health problems. The FDA says if you're healthy, about 2 cups of coffee a day is ok, and can even help protect your body against some stroke and heart problems, but too much can actually cause those very issues. Too much caffeine can cause anxiety, insomnia, dizziness and dehydration. Mixing coffee or caffeine with other substances can be dangerous or even fatal. A South Carolina 16-year-old died after drinking a latte from McDonalds, an energy drink and a large Mountain Dew within a 2-hour window. Alcohol and caffeine can raise your blood pressure and prompt an irregular heart beat. It's not just your coffee you have to worry about - there's also caffeine in chocolate, and in anything labeled "java" or "mocha."
