Look Around Lubbock: 125 years of grace at FUMC

First United Methodist Church, Lubbock is celebrated 125 Years of Grace. The“125 Years of Grace” slogan in 2017 reminds the church "where we came from, where we are now and where we will be in the future as a “grace-filled” downtown center of worship." The church invites all church members, former members and guests as well as descendants of our “founding families” to put October 8 on their calendars. The second grand gathering of all church members will take place in the Sanctuary at 11 a.m. and will once again feature our commissioned musical anthem arranged by former Artist-in-Residence Jeffrey Howard. Former ministers and music directors since 1992 will be here to share their memories of serving at this “grace-filled” church on the Plains of West Texas.

A luncheon in the CLC will follow the worship service. Luncheon tickets are $10 for Adults; $5 for children under age 12 or $30 for a family of four or more (children over 18 must pay the adult price, children under 18 who would like the adult meal must also pay the adult price). Tickets will be sold online August 13-September 22; and also at church September 10, 17 and 24 before and after Sunday School.

Enjoy the worship service, browse the historical exhibits, participate in the special luncheon program, visit with church friends and families, and leave with the inspiration to keep FUMC-Downtown flourishing for many generations to come. Each family will also receive an updated copy of our church’s history as a gift.
