Tattoo ink found traveling through the body

Tattoo ink travels through the body, according to new data. Scientists says they found remnants of tattoo ink inside a person's lymph nodes. Study authors say most tattoo inks contain organic pigments, but also have preservatives and contaminants. Researchers tracked titanium dioxide -- a common ingredient in tattoo ink -- through the body at the micro and nano level. Visual evidence shows that pigments do travel. The team suggests people who get tattoos should not only check their place of choice for sterile conditions, but they may also want to ask about the additives used in the ink to reduce their exposure to certain chemicals.
