LUBBOCK, Texas -

Stellar Family of Companies breaks ground on "The Providence", a new senior living community located in southwest Lubbock.

The $14 million project will include 108 units available to those 55 years and older.

Paul Stell, managing director of Stellar, said it is crucial to the growing population of seniors to provide safe housing.

"A community designed around the need of a senior helps provide a place to have community, to have a safer environment that meets their needs, have access in case they need care, and it's something that they can afford," Stell said.

Stell said the facility is expected to be complete in one year with pre-leasing available in a few months.
