Central Lubbock police chase sends four to the hospital

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A police chase through central Lubbock ended with a crash sending four to the hospital.

According to LSO, a deputy tried to stop Mathew McWhorter, 32, in an SUV at 38th and Avenue Q when he sped away. 

According to the sheriff's department, McWhorter crashed into another vehicle at 34th and U.  He then tried to run on foot and was arrested in a back yard a few blocks away. 

McWhorter has been charged with four counts of failure to stop and render aid

The four victims in the car were transported by EMS with unknown injuries.
